Mark Gourley Class Of 2006
Mark Gourley graduated from USAFA and CS-03 (Dogs of War) in 2006. Following graduation, he served as a civil engineer with assignments at Vandenberg AFB and Joint Base Charleston. He also deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan where he had the opportunity to work with a very diverse, talented and dedicated group of enlisted, officer, civilian, and contractor personnel. During both deployments he led teams to survey and construct multiple forward operating bases in support of joint combat operations and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for his immense efforts in Afghanistan. Since separating from active duty in 2011, Mark continues to lead large teams, finding significant operational efficiencies and completing multiple multi-million dollar construction projects. Those he served with and learned from on active duty have shaped his approach to leadership and team building throughout his career. Mark currently lives in Salt Lake City with his wife and two-year-old son where he works as a construction leader in the technology industry.
I am honored to submit my candidacy to serve on the AOG Board of Directors. USAFA opened doors and provided me with the opportunity to meet people, go places, and do things that most people only get to dream about. For that I am forever grateful and want to give back to USAFA and all our graduates. I will dedicate my time on the board to supporting all Academy graduates as leaders in the military and civilian sectors, while also promoting USAFA to people from all backgrounds as a priceless opportunity to serve and join the Long Blue Line
