CADET PARENTS VISIT ACADEMY, PIKES PEAK REGION

A peek inside cadet life awaits cadet parents and family members at the Academy’s annual Parents’ Weekend, Aug. 31 - Sept 3, 2018.

Friday will be the first full day of Parents’ Weekend, which is expected to bring cadet parents and family members to the Pikes Peak Region for the Labor Day Weekend.

Everyone is invited tot he marquee event for Friday is the Parents’ Weekend Parade, which starts Friday at 9 a.m. at Stillman Field. A pre-parade Cadet Aviation Capabilities Exercise (CAPEX), including a glider landing at the parade field and Wings of Blue parachute team members parachuting into the field, starts at 8:20 a.m. Visitors to the parade should arrive early, and enter the Air Force Academy through the North Gate (take exit 156 off I-25).

Activities available to parents for Parents’ Weekend, include:

FRIDAY:

  • 8:20 a.m., Parents’ Day Parade/Cadet Aviation Capabilities Exercise (CAPEX), Stillman Parade Field
  • 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Parents’ Weekend Information Fair, Arnold Hall Ballroom
  • 10:15 a.m.-11:45 a.m., Academic Open Houses, Fairchild Hall
  • 12 p.m.-5 p.m., Airfield Open Houses, Academy Airfield (Guests may take shuttles departing from Fairchild bus stop starting at 11:30 a.m.)

SATURDAY

  • 12:05 p.m. Falcon Football Team vs. Stony Brook University, Falcon Stadium. NOTE: Vehicles may find it difficult to exit the Falcon Stadium parking lot due to high traffic volumes from around 10 a.m. until after the kick-off.
