Born joins Endowment board of directors

Retired Brig. Gen. Dana H. Born has joined the board of directors for the United States Air Force Academy Endowment in Colorado Springs.

Born, a 1983 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, is the co-director of the Center for Public Leadership, faculty chair of the Senior Executive Fellows Program and lecturer in public policy at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

During her 30 years in the Air Force, Born served two terms as the dean of the faculty at the U.S. Air Force Academy and was a permanent professor and head of the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership. She was also a commander of the 11th Mission Support Squadron at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., and served in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

“Nearly a dozen years ago while serving as the dean I had the opportunity to engage with the founding directors of the USAFA Endowment board. I was immediately inspired by their vision, commitment and generosity to make this remarkable institution soar even higher,” Born said. “Over the years I’ve become even more enthused with the Endowment’s mission, having observed firsthand the extraordinary impact their efforts have had in enriching and elevating the overall cadet experience. I am grateful for the opportunity to join the board, and I look forward to working alongside fellow board members in our shared interest of making a positive difference for the Academy community.”

Born earned a B.S. in behavioral sciences from the Air Force Academy, an M.S. in experimental psychology from Trinity University, an M.A. in research psychology from the University of Melbourne and a doctorate in industrial and organizational psychology from Penn State University.
