2027 AOG Board Election

The 2027 Association of Graduates election will occur from Feb. 2 to March 2. AOG graduate members will vote for six elected positions on the AOG board of directors.

BOARD CANDIDATE WINDOW AOG graduate members interested in running for one of the six open board positions may appear on the ballot by submitting a complete candidate package to the board's nominating committee:

  • Current high-resolution photo (600x700px)
  • CV/resume (maximum two pages)
  • 100 valid AOG member signatures
  • Completed candidate statement of 300 or fewer words answering the following question: How have you contributed to the Long Blue Line since graduation, and what do you plan to do once on the AOG board of directors?

REQUIREMENTS TO VOTE

Graduate membership is required to vote in the 2027 election. If you are a graduate but not an AOG member, you can join at no cost and vote in the election.

Desired attributes for candidates

Candidates for the board should be graduates of the U.S. Air Force Academy and members of the Association of Graduates.

While there are no specific desired attributes for candidates, the board’s nominating committee encourages members to consider the following decade-based representation on the board for the 2027-2029 cycle, which includes the seven remaining elected and appointed directors whose terms expire in 2029:

  • 1959 and 1960s representation: no representation
  • 1970s representation: Dan Bohlin ’71, Denny Meredith ’73, Rod Bishop ’74 (terms expire in 2029)
  • 1980s representation: David "DT" Thompson ’85 and Christopher "Mookie" Walker ’88 (terms expire in 2029)
  • 1990s representation: no representation
  • 2000s representation: no representation
  • 2010s representation: Jennifer Walters ’11 and Alexander Fogassy ’12 (terms expire 2029)
  • 2020s representation: no representation

How many directors serve on the AOG board?

The board consists of 16 directors: 11 elected directors, four appointed directors and the president of the Class Advisory Senate. Six of the 11 elected director positions are on the 2027 ballot.

How long are elected director terms?

Under the AOG’s Bylaws, the 11 elected directors each serve four-year terms.

Is the AOG working with a third party to administer the 2027 election?

Yes. The AOG will partner with Survey & Ballot Systems. The AOG has worked with SBS for several elections, including the 2025 election.

I’m a USAFA graduate but not a member of the AOG and I want to vote. Can I do that?

Graduate membership in the AOG is required to vote. USAFA graduates can join the AOG at no cost to them; membership is a benefit of being a USAFA graduate. To join the AOG, all you need to do is complete this form. Your membership will then be processed and you can vote in the 2027 AOG election.

I’m interested in running for one of the six AOG elected director seats. How do I do that?

The candidacy period for the 2027 AOG election is from July 1 to Oct. 2, 2026. During this time, AOG graduate members interested in running for one of the six open elected director seats must submit a completed candidate package to the board’s nominating committee.

What’s required to be a candidate?

What happens after the candidacy window closes?

After the candidacy period closes, the board’s nominating committee will review submitted packets to confirm that each is complete and includes 100 valid AOG member signatures.

The AOG board is scheduled to finalize the candidate slate at its Oct. 16 meeting, which will be livestreamed and open to all members. The election ballot is expected to be finalized in early December. The nominating committee chair will notify individuals that their materials were completed correctly and that their candidacy is officially on the ballot. If someone has not completed the candidate materials correctly, the chair of the nominating committee will notify the individual via their submitted email address. They will have until Nov. 16 to submit the missing/inadequate items.

AOG members will receive formal notice at least 30 days before voting opens on Feb. 2.
