Academic Excellence
The Academy has a proud tradition of academic excellence-small class sizes, a dedicated faculty that emphasizes teaching, and first rate facilities. As the world's greatest air and space force continues its expeditionary transformation, the cadets' academic experience gains in importance. Future military leaders must be armed with a broad skill set that prepares them to deal with technological advances and potential conflicts on multiple frontiers in the 21st century.
The Building Leaders of Character for the Nation campaign seeks $20 million to enhance the Academy's Academic focus.

Distinguished Resident Scholars
($10 million)
An integral part of the Academy's commitment to an investment in talent is its recognition of the importance of strong academic leadership. The establishment of an endowment for visiting Distinguished Resident Scholars will attract additional experienced academic leaders to the institution and build on existing disciplinary strengths while expanding into new areas of development. Their presence benefits not only cadets, but aids the faculty in their pursuit of mastering their discipline. These scholars also facilitate the development of mutually beneficial relationships with other institutions of higher learning.
Distinguished Resident Scholars will be involved with a wide range of activities. These individuals will develop curriculum and expand programs in cross-disciplinary areas. Emphasis will be placed on Air Force relevant areas such as space exploration, cultural immersion and technology.
Curriculum Endowments and
Operating Funds ($10 million)
Experiential learning broadens the academic experience for cadets. Whether it is building rockets, studying abroad, or designing satellites, these real-world experiences better prepare cadets for their roles in the Air Force. These hands-on opportunities enhance the educational experience across the curriculum. Endowments and operating funds will provide a predictable source of funding for enhancing such academic opportunities. |
