Appointment Process
Prior to Receiving an Appointment:
Our programs start before your child receives an appointment. Through his or her high school counseling office and/or Academy Liaison Officer, ask to see the CD which was produced by the AOG to support the recruitment of high quality cadets.
After Receiving an Appointment:
Once your child receives his or her appointment, the Academy will offer you the opportunity to attend "Appointee Days" during the first three weeks of April. Monday is a full day of briefings for parents and appointees about the Academy. Then your appointee will be paired with a cadet to spend the night and experience a day in the life of a cadet on Tuesday. You will receive information about this tour from the Academy Admissions office. The AOG staff looks forward to guiding you along the path your cadet will follow.
After Accepting an Appointment:
Once your child accepts an appointment, you need to keep up on their paperwork to ensure your child is taking care of everything they need to do. At the same time, you should encourage them to continue to improve their physical condition all the way up to the moment they leave for Inprocessing.
The AOG pre-launch checklist is a valuable source of information and is now located on our website at http://www.usafa.org/2014. This is very important information for both the appointee and parents.
