Academy Events

The AOG invites graduates to reconnect with the Academy by participating in traditional and memorable events.

Graduates are invited back to attend events throughout the year ranging from recoginizing the year's Distinguished Graduates to the Outstanding Squadron banquet.

Founders Day Celebration

On the first of April in 1954, President Eisenhower signed into law the bill authorizing an Air Force Academy.

Every year, on or about April 1st, the USAFA and AOG celebrate Founders Day with the presentation of the Distinguished Graduate Awards and formal dinner.

The first Cadet Wing parade of the season takes place on Saturday during the Founders Day celebration.

Jabara Award

The Air Force Academy, in conjunction with the Jabara family and the Association of Graduates, established the Colonel James Jabara Award for Airmanship on January 5, 1967.

With 15 kills, Colonel Jabara was the second leading Air Force ace of the Korean War. Each year the U.S. Air Force Academy and the Association of Graduates present the Colonel James Jabara Award to an Academy graduates or graduates whose airmanship contributions are of great significance and set them apart from their contemporaries.

The Jabara Award Banquet, sponsored by the Association of Graduates, honors each year's award recipient.

Outstanding Squadron Banquet

Each year the Association of Graduates and Air Force Association sponsor the Outstanding Squadron Banquet.

This banquet officially kicks off June Week and the offical graduation festivities. The top squadron is recognized for superior performance in all areas of study including academics, athletics, military, and character.

All members of the top squadron are hosted at a formal banquet recognizing the superior work they performed both individually and as a team throughout the year.
