J. Scott Kirby '89
Mr. Scott Kirby ’89 is the president of American Airlines Group and American Airlines, its principal subsidiary company. Mr. Kirby oversees the American’s operations, planning, marketing, sales, alliances, and pricing/yield management. Previously, he served as president of US Airways, where he oversaw the airline’s operations, including flight operations, safety and regulatory compliance, maintenance, inflight services, airport customer service, and reservations. Prior to being named president in 2006, Mr. Kirby was US Airway’s Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, a position he held at America West Airlines prior to the carriers’ merger in 2005. Prior to joining America West, Mr. Kirby worked for Sabre Decision Technologies, a subsidiary of AMR Corp. Mr. Kirby is a 1989 graduate of the Air Force Academy and holds a master’s of science degree in operations research from George Washington University.
